
Nephi’s 12 Descriptors of the the Land Bountiful
- “Nearly eastward” of Nahom
- Accessible from the interior deserts.
- The surrounding general area may have been also fertile.
- Bountiful was a sheltered coastal location.
- “Bountiful” was a fertile area.
- Timber was available to build a ship.
- Year-round fresh water at the site.
- A mountain nearby.
- Substantial cliffs overlooking the ocean are suggested.
- Ore, from which metal could be smelted to construct tools.
- Little or no resident population at that time to contribute tools and manpower to the ship building process.
- Access to the open ocean for a ship.
